A bit of Bosch boost – up to 55Nm – in an ultralight package. That's the aim of the AMS Hybrid ONE44 C:68X SLX's game, and it's extremely good at it. With the new lightweight Bosch SX drive unit, 400Wh battery, controller built into the top tube, and a handlebar-mounted Mini Remote, trail riding never looked so appealing. Shimano's super-reliable XT 1x12 gears serve up a mountain-taming range of ratios while matching XT hydraulic disc brakes ensure you're safe and in control coming back down the other side. We chose Fox's 34 Performance Grip fork and Float Performance shock for their matchless ability to smooth the trail. Challenging trails need a suspension setup to match, which is why we gave the Stereo Hybrid ONE77 HPC SLX 800 a Fox Float 38 Rhythm Grip fork and Float X Performance shock. Together, they deliver 170mm of rock-swallowing travel front and rear, with loads of adjustment so you can get it dialed. The Bosch CX drive and 800 Wh PowerTube battery give your pedalling an unobtrusive but very effective boost, via Shimano's legendary XT 1x12 gears. Meanwhile, the mullet Newmen Performance 30 wheelset – shod with Schwalbe Magic Mary and Tacky Tan 2.4in tires – is held in check by Shimano's powerful, progressive XT hydraulic disc brakes. With a remote dropper post included in the mix, you simply need to add your spirit of adventure.
